Hotel Alpenland stands at 1,252 m at the far end of Lauenen, on the edge of the Rohr and Lauenensee nature reserve, about ten minutes by car from Gstaad. It is a three-star superior with 24 rooms, suites and apartments, and every one has a balcony. The doubles are 24 to 30 m², and Lake Lauenen is about an hour away on foot, or 40 minutes on the winter trail.
In winter the 8 km cross-country trail starts at the hotel and one of the three runs on Lauenen's small T-bar lift is right opposite; the main Gstaad ski areas are a drive or bus ride away, with a stop 100 m from the door. Back at the hotel there are mountain saunas you book privately, a fireplace lounge, a fondue hut and a restaurant that buys locally, including yak from the valley. Families get connecting rooms for up to six and a playground next door.

No season dates are published, so confirm before booking a spring or autumn stay. On Tuesdays check-in closes at 17:00. The bus stop is 100 m away and the Gstaad Card covers the PostBus. Outdoor parking is free; the garage is charged.
