Hotels in Rougemont

Rougemont is a Vaud village west of Gstaad on the GoldenPass line, with a Romanesque church. The La Videmanette gondola, part of the Gstaad lift network, leaves from the village. Rougemont is outside the Gstaad holiday region, so guests get the Pass d'Enhaut instead of the Gstaad Card; it covers trains and buses across the Pays-d'Enhaut and the Saanenland. Hotels here are small, and one is two minutes from the station. Glacier 3000 is about 29 minutes by car.

Before you go to Rougemont

Getting there

Rougemont station is on the GoldenPass line, about eight minutes by regional train from Gstaad and about 14 minutes on to Château-d'Oex; the line continues west to Montreux. For Glacier 3000 without a car, take the train to Gstaad and PostBus 180 to Col du Pillon. By car, Rougemont is on the valley road between Saanen and Château-d'Oex.

Skiing

The La Videmanette gondola starts in Rougemont and leads into the Eggli and La Videmanette area, which connects with Gstaad's Eggli. The longest run in the region comes back down to Rougemont, and the slopes face the sun. The Magic Pass is valid here. Rougemont has its own Swiss ski school and a cross-country loop of about 3.7 km for classic and skating.

Guest card and tax

Rougemont is outside the Gstaad holiday region, so hotel guests get the Pass d'Enhaut. In winter it covers the MOB train between La Tine and Zweisimmen, the TPC bus to Col des Mosses and PostBuses from Gstaad to Turbach, Lauenen and Gsteig, with reduced entry to the Château-d'Oex ice rink. A visitor's tax is charged per night.

Visitor's tax: CHF 3.00 per adult per night, at hotels of one to three stars, and CHF 6.50 at four and five stars. Under 16 staying with their parents free. Source

Staying in Rougemont

Do hotels in Rougemont get the Gstaad Card?

No. Rougemont is in Vaud and outside the Gstaad holiday region, so hotels give the Pass d'Enhaut instead. It still covers the GoldenPass train through the Saanenland, so Gstaad, Schönried and Saanenmöser are a free train ride away.

Can you get from Rougemont to Glacier 3000 without a car?

Yes, with a change: train to Gstaad, then PostBus 180 to Col du Pillon. In winter the Pass d'Enhaut lists PostBus travel only as far as Gsteig, so a ticket may be needed for the last stretch; a Glacier 3000 ticket makes the bus from Reusch free. In summer the pass covers the whole route.

Is Rougemont a good base for skiing?

For the Eggli and La Videmanette area, yes: the gondola is in the village and the region's longest run ends there. The larger Rinderberg, Saanersloch and Horneggli area means a train journey through Gstaad to Schönried or Saanenmöser.
