The Ermitage is a family-owned five-star wellness hotel in Schönried, about five minutes' walk from the station and open all year. The Lutz family has owned it since 1977, and the spa is the reason to come: about 3,700 m² of it, with a 35 °C saltwater brine pool that runs indoors and out, a 17 m outdoor sports pool heated to 31 °C in winter, and seven saunas and steam rooms, one of them built around an old schnapps still.
Most bookings include three-quarter board: breakfast, a soup and salad lunch, the afternoon cake table and dinner in one of eight themed Stuben. Guided hikes and ski or bike tours run Monday to Friday, and cross-country tracks start at the door. The lifts are close, but you do not ski to the hotel. Families get suites of up to 87 m², a playroom and a games room, and the hotel is the official partner of the Menuhin Festival.
