On our lists

Hôtel de Commune is the old inn in the centre of Rougemont, on Rue des Allamans, two minutes on foot from the station. Its painted façade still carries the inn's promise of good lodging for man and horse. Today it is the first place of his own for chef Michaël Burri, who trained with Philippe Chevrier and cooked at Le Cerf in Rougemont before taking it on.

The restaurant, Chez mamie, serves terroir cooking built on local produce, and it is the reason most people come. Upstairs there are about eleven rooms. The hotel is open every day, but the restaurant closes on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so plan those evenings elsewhere. It suits couples and friends who care about dinner more than facilities and like being able to walk from the train to their room with a bag.

The catch at Hôtel de Commune

  • The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so there is no dinner in-house on those nights. Source
  • Rougemont is outside the Gstaad holiday region, so guests get the Pass d'Enhaut rather than the Gstaad Card. Source
