Gstaad Palace opened in December 1913 and still looks the part: a white castle with turrets on the hill above the village. The Scherz family has run it for three generations, and over the years it has gone from 180 rooms to 90, which leaves the public spaces generous. The village centre and station are about an 8-minute walk down, and a shuttle runs into Gstaad.

It is a resort in itself. There are six restaurants and four bars, from Le Grill, with 16 points in Gault&Millau 2027, to fondue in a former bank gold vault. The 1,800 m² spa is free for guests, the indoor pool is the one Inspector Clouseau fell into, and in summer the 50 m outdoor pool from 1928 opens. A kids' club takes ages 5 to 12. It suits families and anyone who wants the full grand-hotel routine, jackets at dinner included.

Good to know

Open 15 December 2026 to 7 March 2027 and 20 June to 5 September 2027. The village and station are about an 8-minute walk away; the hotel runs a shuttle into Gstaad and collects guests from the station. Outdoor parking is included, the indoor garage is charged. Dogs and cats are welcome.
