The Alpina opened in December 2012 on a sunny slope just above the village, and it is built like a very large chalet, with hand-built fireplaces in local stone and old painted furniture in the rooms. All 56 rooms and suites have a private terrace. It is not on the slopes, but a free shuttle runs from 9.00 to midnight to the Eggli, Wispile and Wasserngrat lifts and down into Gstaad.
The Six Senses Spa was the brand's first in Switzerland, with a 25 m indoor pool, a hammam, hot and cold plunge pools, and a heated outdoor pool in gardens by Jean Mus. For dinner there is Megu, Japanese, and Monti, Italian sharing plates, each with 16 points in Gault&Millau 2027, plus a Swiss Stübli. The Tree House Club looks after children. It suits couples and families who want a polished winter base and do not need to ski from the door.
Open 11 December 2026 to 7 March 2027; summer 2027 dates are not yet published. Transfers from Gstaad station are free. Ski rental is next to the main entrance and the concierge sells ski passes. Dogs are welcome for a daily fee, with limits in the restaurants after 19.00.
